Climbing - 7 nights, 8 days

The Shark Fin is located at the end of the French Valley, in Torres del Paine, surrounded by mountains such Forteleza to the north east, El Cuchillo, La Hoja, Cota and the massif north face of Paine Grande to the south.
Our Climb starts on Campamento Británico and where we will make our base camp. The 3 hour approach will take us to the base of the south-west face. This trail is crossing a thick lenga forest and finishing with a very steep section before reaching the base of the wall. With cloudless sky we will be able to catch the beautiful sunrise on the South Tower to the east.
The climb consists of 12 pitches, most of them IV class (5-6), with a few moves of 5-10+ on good quality rock. The rappel is the real task of the climb, in some cases wind can make the decent difficult, so it is very important to maintain control of our gear. The climb may take 10 to 15 hours round trip (Británico to Británico) depending on the weather and fitness levels.
Day 1
Our Trip will lead us to the Campamento Británico, located on the boundaries between the forest and the moraine deep into the French Valley. In this place we will set up the base camp where we´ ll get ready for our attempt to the south face of the peak.
Day 2
The following day we will approach to the base of the wall carrying some of the gear we ll need for the climb, it will give you a first impression of the climb itself.
Day 3-7
After this point we´ ll be looking for a good weather window ( Up To 5 days) which allow as to climb and return back safely to the Base Camp.
Day 8
After celebrating the magic of the climb we’ll hike back to Campamento Paine Grande, where the catamaran will be waiting for us.
Shark Fin expedition dates depart upon request on the first and third Fridays of each month - December thru February.
